The taste layer for AI.
Launch film for the Brand API, the first tool Taste Labs built for AI agents. A founder interview, kinetic type and product motion that show an agent pulling a brand apart, finding references and checking its own work.
The question
Taste Labs teaches AI models what good design looks like. Its first public product is the Brand API. An agent gives it a website and gets back the brand behind it. It can look for other brands with a similar style, and it can check whether a new page still looks like the brand. We made the launch film. The question was how to make an API feel like something you can see.
The idea
We built the film around Thais Castello Branco, the founder, sitting on a sofa by a big window in San Francisco. She tells the story. Each time she names something, the motion steps in and shows it, then hands the frame back to her.
The type
The film runs on a dark grey ground, with thin rounded outlines drifting behind like guides on a drawing. On it, one line sets the tone: A Brand requires. Then the words come and go around it. Craft. Attention. Uniqueness. Iteration.
The product
The product comes in three short scenes, one word each. Extract fans out real brand sheets: a type specimen in FK Grotesk Neue, a logo at every size, a palette in bars. Search pulls up sites that share a style, from Outfit to Bouquet. Verify lines up new pages next to the brand they should match.
Then it gets concrete. A website address is typed into a single bar, and the brand comes back as five cards: Colors, Typography, Textures, Layout and Motion. Over the interview, someone types "a dreamy brand", and sites start to fill the screen. A place to explore. Design that elevates your digital presence.
The last proof is a pricing page, shown twice. Once without the Brand API, once with it. The second one still looks like the brand.
The ending
The logos of the agents it plugs into gather around a single line, The Brand API. It settles on tastelabs, then the address, and the film ends back on the sofa, with tastelabs.com/api written across the frame.
